“One Battle After Another” clip: The “River of Hills” chase

In Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another,” a young kidnapping victim (Chase Infiniti) is being chased by an assassin (John Hoogenakker) and by her dad (best actor Oscar nominee Leonardo DiCaprio). Dubbed by filmmakers as the “River of Hills,” the topography of the highway in California’s Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (as shot in VistaVision by Oscar-nominated cinematographer Michael Bauman, edited by Oscar nominee Andy Jurgensen, and scored by Oscar nominee Jonny Greenwood) makes this three-car chase sequence one of the most innovative ever filmed. “One Battle After Another,” a Warner Brothers release, is nominated for 13 Academy Awards, including best picture.
